Heading south, you'll come to a crossroads with a sign for Falassarna. If you follow it, after five hundred metres you will have a beautiful panoramic view of the beach of Falassarna, where the ancient town of Crete was built, today filled with olive groves and greenhouses.

If you're planning a swim, there's a small pebble beach just in front of the old town, and a second, quieter beach a little further north, behind the rock of the acropolis. A third beach, stretching for three kilometres, called Pachia Ammos, is one of the most beautiful in Western Crete. Its very fine sand, which is pink in places, its turquoise waters and above all its sunsets have made it famous and much sought-after in recent years.
