They are recognised as a biosphere reserve by Unesco. Thousands of tourists come especially to cross them. The total length is 16 km and it takes between 5 and 8 hours, depending on the chosen pace.  They start in Xyloskalo, at an altitude of 1,250m, and end in Agia Roumeli, in the Libyan Sea.\u00a0<span style=\"font-size: 15px; color: var( --e-global-color-text ); background-color: var( --e-global-color-767a4ec );\">The most famous passage, called\u00a0<\/span><em style=\"font-size: 15px; color: var( --e-global-color-text ); background-color: var( --e-global-color-767a4ec );\"><a href=\"#elementor-action%3Aaction%3Dpopup%3Aopen%26settings%3DeyJpZCI6Ijg2NDEiLCJ0b2dnbGUiOmZhbHNlfQ%3D%3D\">Doors<\/a> or Sideroportes<\/em><span style=\"font-size: 15px; color: var( --e-global-color-text ); background-color: var( --e-global-color-767a4ec );\">, where the rocks are only 4m apart, even though they rise to a height of 500m! a taxi.
